Red on Purple - _TNY_5404

The huge inflorescence on the purple angelicas (Angelica gigas) is like drugs to the wasps. You can scare them away, but they always come back.

 

Here it is a red wasp (Vespula rufa) which is hurrying over all the tastiness.
