Deceptive Species - _TNY_5048

Here's a ladybird which had me troubled for quite a while in search of an ID.

Thanks to a helpful bloke on Facebook, I now know this is a specimen of the extremely variable harlequin ladybird (Harmonia axyridis) also known as the Asian lady beetle.

The nicely-coloured flower it is sitting on is a woolly burdock (Arctium tomentosum)

For a shot of a toally different-looking specimen of the same species, have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/50271863526/
