Comma Close - _TNY_5040

The Canon MP-E65mm lens which cannot focus further away than 101 mm / 4" is far from an ideal lens for butterfly photography.

For subjects like this comma butterfly (Polygonia c-album) which was very cool with me getting close to it while eating on a woolly burdock (Arctium tomentosum) at Åva-Stensjödal in the Tyresta National Park, it offers an unusual perspective and a lot of detail which isn't readily seen in a more traditional butterfly photo.

If you look at the underside of the wing here, you can see that small white marking which has given this species its English name.
