Good Light, Cropped Version - _TNY_1953C
When I shoot tropical butterflies, the butterfly house I visit has a no flash policy. I try and circumvent this by using a tripod which allows for longer shutter times and this works pretty well.
This particular gold rim swallowtail (Battus polydamas), also known as the tailless swallowtail, fortunately sat on a tree in really good light so the details on it came quite a lot nicer than usual.
This is a cropped version which makes it easier to see the details, but for the full, 50 megapixel version, have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52964542665/
