Rainbow Eyes, Pt. 3 - _TNY_3656S2

While I was brushing my teeth one morning last week, my wife pointed out a small fly on the wall and told me to get rid of it.

Seeing that this was a long-legged fly (Dolichopodidae), I obviously went for my camera instead.

Our small guest turned out to be a male Sciapus platypterus with the most wonderful rainbow-coloured eyes and while he buzzed around and landed on the floor, on the bathroom cabinet and the wall, he still allowed me to get shots of him on all backgrounds before I trapped him using a glass and brough him outside.

This shot is a two-exposure focus stack, compiled using Zerene Stacker, for some extra depth of field.

Do zoom in on the eyes - they're worth it. And while you're in there, have a look at the black and white socks on the middle pair of feet!
