The Other Golden Triangle - _TNY_4057S2

Here is a (small but pretty) treat I found yesterday at my mother's summer house in Saltarö, Sweden.

This one is known as the clover hay moth (Hypsopygia costalis), but due to the beautiful colouration and the fact that they like to rest with their wings either like this or in a distinct trianglular shape, it is also known as the gold triangle - a name which makes me think of opium farming in the Far East.

Either way, this little guy chose to land on a glass door and refused to move the entire day so I had ample time to try out various angles and settings. The shot here is a two-exposure focus stack for some added depth of field.

For a shot of it with my finger next to it for scale, have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/53013175736/
