Colour Colour Colour! - _TNY_3809

This wonderful beetle enthusiastically munching pollen on a glaucous dog rose (Rosa dumalis) doesn't have a common English name, but the scientific name is Chrysanthia viridissima.

In Swedish, this is a "grön blombagge", quite plainly meaning "green flower-beetle" but I find them spectacular (and the metallic green worked wonderfully together with the colours of the flower.

This was shot on a hot day in the Paradiset nature reserve in Huddinge, Sweden when I visited together with my wife and son. As we were getting back to the parking lot, I told them that I was just going to find one more bug in the flowers next to the path so they went ahead of me - and there it was. Really happy I looked.
