I Know What it Isn't - _TNY_8713
This is a hoverfly in the Syrphus genus. Unfortunately, the photo isn't enough to say which exact species, but we can at least see that it isn't Syrphus torvus as that one has hairy eyes - which this one lacks.
I took this as a test shot after finishing version 5 of my diffuser back in early October of 2020 and the very yellow flower is a shrubby cinquefoil (Dasiphora fruticosa).
That green thing in the foreground is the but end of a leafhopper which I have a separate shot of coming up later.
