Identifying butterflies after having photographed them can be fairly straightforward. But since thel like to mimic other species, cross-breed, have different colour-forms and whatnot, at other times it can be a bit frustrating.
Also, googling for answers isn't always that helpful as the identifications made in photos you find obviously have experienced the same issues so a lot of them are incorrect.
The orange-spotted tiger clearwing (Mechanitis polymnia), aka the disturbed tigerwing, normally look like this: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52694548396/
After way to much looking, I believe this one to be the same species - but the subspecies isthmia.
