Do Butterflies Eat?_TNY_2592

Since butterflies only feed though that amazing proboscis and thus only consume liquids - is it still called eating, or should it be called drinking instead?

 

This orange-spotted tiger clearwing (Mechanitis polymnia), aka the disturbed tigerwing (amazing name!) at the Haga Ocean butterfly house is drinking pineapple then. The butterflies like the fruit ripe - older is better. Of course this leads to the fruit fermenting and generating alcohol - which actually make the butterflies drunk.
