Not a Spider, Pt. 2 - _TNY_8888
Harvestmen are not spiders at all even if they are arachnids.
Unlike spiders, they don't have any venom, can't produce silk, have just two eyes (in a little command turret up top!) and different mouth parts. Blus the two parts of a spiders body is fused into one.
Thieir principal defense mechanism isn't that impressive and is basically to shed a leg if it is grabbed.
This Oligolophus hanseni harvestman has apparently employed that strategy as it only has seven legs here. This has however not stopped it from extracting a dead brown chafer (Serica brunnea) from a spider web and was having a snack on it here.
