Stages - _TNY_4491

When identifying caterpillars, it is sometimes easy to forget that the different instar stages can look quite different. This knot grass moth (Acronicta rumicis) looks similar to some other shots of it that I have taken - but not quite exactly like them. This is likely down to the fact that this is an earlier stage and once it shed this skin to grow more into the preceeding larger one, it will look like those.
