Here is a tree bumblebee (Bombus hypnorum), also known as the new garden bumblebee, at the center of a flower on the house leeks (Sempervivum tectorum) in my mother-in-law's garden.

 

The bald spot on the thorax has probably come from it climbing in and out through a narrow opening too many times which has worn away the hair there.
