Black Stockings, Pt. 3 - _TNY_7504

Sometimes there is a tell which makes it easy to identify a species. This is easy to figure out as being a female of one of the darters in the Sympetrum genus. The species look quite similar, but unlike the other species, the ruddy darter (Sympetrum sanguineum) has all black legs instead of having a yellowish stripe along them.

And from this shot we can clearly see that the legs are all black, ergo S. sanguineum.
