Courtship - _TNY_0367

Looking at this quickly, it is easy to think that this is just a European peacock (Aglais io) on fome Forbes' glory-of-the-snow (Scilla forbesii), but look again - There is a second butterfly there, but with its wings folded.

The underside of the wings is specificlly designed to be as inconspicuous as possible so you are axcused if you missed it.

I think the one showing the red is the male and the one with the wings closed is the female and I found them in the flowers outside a neighbour's house in mid-April.

For a little closer shot of just one peackock butterfly on in the same place a couple of days later, have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51160743799/
