Bristles, Pt. 2 - _TNY_7515

I spotted this female European garden spider (Araneus diadematus) in her web eating some sort of small insect, but then she spotted me and made a beeline for a hiding spot outside the web.

Fortunately for me, this meant I actually had better access to shooting her and we got a couple of glamour shots while she finished her meal.

This was next to lake Kvarnsjön in the Lännaskogen nature reserve near Stockholm, Sweden, and the tree in which she had made her web was actually very wet (to the point of being part of the lake) - but covered in peat moss (Sphagnum sp.) so the knees of my pants which I was supporting myself with were dripping wet afterwards. No big deal on a warm summer day though. :)
