Coupled Couple - _TNY_1917

When visiting lake Vedasjön, not very far from our house on a very hot June day, primarily to go swimming with my wife and son, I of course couldn't resist bringing my camera along.

Walking around in the shallow water wearing nothing but swimming trunks and the camera, I found this is mating pair of large redeyes (Erythromma najas). This is pretty late in the happy fun time process and the greenish female is depositing her eggs on some perfoliate pondweed (Potamogeton perfoliatus) just below the surface of the water.

She was actually quite dedicated and continued her work even when becoming completely submerged at one point.
