White Means Peace - _TNY_0771
On the way in to Västerhaninge (where I live), there is a field on the side of the road. During the summer of 2022, I noticed that along the edge of the field nearest to the road, there was a couple of meters deep with some sort of different crop.
This turned out to be sunflowers which I felt was a bit odd. Since I could see white butterflies fluttering around there I decided to bring my camera and have a look one day.
As I got there I noticed signs which explained it. It turns out that whoever owned that field had planted the sunflowers with the intent that you could pick as many as you wanted and pay by sending money (using your phone) to an organisation working to help Ukraine fight the Russian occupation. A nice little initiative and 100% of the proceeds went there.
I got several nice shots of other bugs, bu the only white butterfly that graced my camera sensor with a picture was this cabbage white (Pieris rapae) which landed fairly high up on one of the large leaves of a sunflower.
Other bugs I found were a four-spot orb-weaver here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52685314425/
and a vagrant darter: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52343369714/
