Unsymmetrical Dragon - _TNY_5525

Nedre Dammen is a pond at Åva-Stensjödal in the Tyresta National Park south of Stockholm, Sweden - the name literally means "the lower pond".

There used to be an old mill at the outlet up until a little more than a hundred years ago, but today there is just a small dam. On top of that dam is a small wooden deck which some of the dragonflies of the pond like to rest on.

One of those was this very red male ruddy darter (Sympetrum sanguineum). He took off the first couple of times I tried to get close, but kept coming back and eventually he allowed me some nice shots.

I posted a very symmetrical shot here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52426849341/ - and this one is basically the same except for Mr. Darter deciding to tilt his head and rupture the symmetry.

Here's the view the dragon was enjoying once I moved out of the way: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52180253624/
