Cute Bee, but not Cute Tactics - _TNY_8406

This is one of the blood bees (Sphecodes sp.), bees which look really cute, but since they are kleptoparasitic, perhaps everybody won't think they are that nice.

These typically like to locate not yet sealed up burrows of bees in the Lasioglossum, Andrena and Halictus genera and lay their egg there to take advantage of the work put in by the other bee.

They are quite difficult to identiy down to species and on top of that, not very good at sitting still. Most that I've come across have been on a constant move which makes shooting them difficult.

This particular one was trying to locate a suitable burrow among the flowers at the front of our house in mid-May.
