Unreflective (Cropped Version) - _TNY_8471C
Here's an old shot (2016) from back when I was using an undiffused ring flash to light my subjects.
Normally, an undiffused flash creates lots of unwanted reflections which kind of mess up the shot although a flash like that in itself lights up the subject well from literally all sides.
When the subject happen to be a female ashy mining bee (Andrena cineraria) like here - the thick fluffy coat of black and grey hairs absorb the light very well, meaning much less reflections.
I really like the look of these bees with the grey fur. Interestingly, the abdomen have much less hair on this species.
