Goldenring on Begonia - _TNY_9309

Here's the first common goldenring (Cordulegaster boltonii) I've ever seen - and it became a close meeting!

It flew into my mother-in-law's greenhouse by mistake and couldn't find its way out so after a little bit of photographing - and quite a lot of thrashing around! - I could carry it out sitting in my hand.

Before getting it onto my hand it got stuck inside a window which is the reason for this somewhat unelegant pose on top of a begonia.

This species is one of the three largest species in Sweden with a wingspan of up to 110 mm (4.3").

For a shot of the very same one while on my finger, have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52215431872/
