Beautiful Damage - _TNY_0878

This Peleides blue morpho (Morpho peleides) from the Haga Ocean butterfly house in Solna, Sweden has damaged one of its hind wings.

Since there obviously aren't any predators inside a butterfly house (except for ants and cockroaches who don't do this kind of damage), I'm assuming it had some issues getting out of the chrysalis or possibly human interaction.

These butterflies have incredibly large wing area compared to their weight so it had no issues at all flying though.

A small silver-lining for us is that this enable us to see some of that magically intense blue dorsal side even when it has its wings closed.
