Shooting bug macro with a diffused flash obviously means you have quite a lot of control over the light.

 

Sometimes though, you manage to ht a certain angle which creates a different look. This greenbottle (Lucilia sp.) fly must have had the eyes in a perfect angle because they came out so much more intensely red than any other I've shot.
