New Position - TNY_20220923_143240

So I'm out at my mom's summer house, closing up for the winter and naturally I bring the camera - just in case.

I notice some sort of interesting bugs and get some decent shots and then, as my mom is picking up the plastic waterbarrel to put it away we notice something.

Bingo! A pale tusock moth caterpillar (Calliteara pudibunda) - a species I have been longing to find and shoot.

This one was content with just sitting there (do caterpillars sit?) so I laid the barrel over my legs and snapped away. This time I remembered to ask mom to take a couple of photos of me there as well.

For one of the resulting shots and an explanation as to why the lens I had on was almost too good, please have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52421183249/
