Poor Shot, Pretty Butterfly - _TNY_6017

This isn't a very sharp shot, but I still think it's worth posting.

The butterfly house I visit every now and then get continous deliveries of butterfly cooccoons which they hatch so we can enjoy the butterflies.

The thing is that they don't get exact delivieries of this and that species, but it varies so at any given time, there are different species to when you visit a couple of weeks later.

One of the "regular" species which always can be found there is the one on the right here, the pale owl butterfly, (Caligo memnon). The one on the right is one which I rarely see there though, the yellow-edged giant owl (Caligo atreus).

The colouration (on both sides) is much more saturated, but this is the closest I've gotten to capturing the dorsal side and the yellow bands which have given it its name.

For a shot of the ventral side, have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52112840169/
