Odd Name, Pt. 2 - _TNY_0948S5

Sometimes common names for butterflies appear a bit confusing. Like this female orange-banded shoemaker (Catonephele orites).

Half of the I can explain: The "orange-banded" part comes from this species having sexual dimorphism, ie the male and the female look different. Unlike this one, the males are deep black with an intensely orange band across the wings. I haven't seen one, but a couple of meters from this lady, I photographed a male of the closely related species Catonephele numilia which has the same band, but divided up into several orange spots. Have a look at it here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52376943939/

Part 1 shows the dorsal side of this one here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/52390646374/

As for the shoemaker moniker - I'm stumped and if you can share any knowledge, it would be great.

This shot is actually made up of five exposures which I hve focus stacked into a single image using Zerene Stacker to get more depth of field.
