Green Cigar - _TNY_6066

The common yellow swallowtail (Papilio machaon), also known as the old-world swallowtail, is one of the larger butterflies in Sweden so it is hardly surprising that the caterpillar is fairly chonky as well.

This particular one was devouring the huge leaves of a purple angelica (Angelica gigas) in my mother-in-law's garden outside Härnösand, Sweden, back in late July of 2018.

Sadly I didn't see a single one of these green eating-machines this summer, but I'm obviously hoping to find one the next time around.
