Fuzzy Queen, Fuzzy Flower - _TNY_6735
Shot early in spring (late April is "early spring" when it comes to insects in Stockholm, Sweden), this is a queen of the four-coloured cuckoo bumblebee (Bombus quadricolor).
As the name suggests, this is one of the cuckoo bumblebees which don't build their own nests but instead take over nests of another species, in this case the broken-belted bumblebee (Bombus soroeensis).
Here it is refueling on one of the few flowers available this early, the sallow, (Salix caprea).
