There is this creek connecting the upper and lower bodies of water at my favourite spot in Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park.
I have began exploring it as of lately in pursuit of beautiful demoiselles (Calopteryx virgo).
Yesterday I brought my waders which opened up new possibilities to get within reach of the demoiselles.
This female was unusually red in colouration and I think it looks decidedly more pretty - though that could be the fact that it is a bit more unusual of course. Every time she took of she kept coming back to the same end of a branch on a spruce which had fallen over the creek and by staying still and waiting, I could get some nice shots.
The creek has some other neat inhabitants as well. A week or two ago I saw a small pike (Esox lucius) in one of the pools (I'm assuming it is stuck in the creek due to debris and unable to get out into lake Nedre Dammen below).
And just after taking this photo I saw two signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) in the water! I almost managed to pick one of them up, but when my fingers touched it, it bounced away.
