Rustling the Pollen - _TNY_9294
Extra pleased with this one. It's yet another shot of an (female) European wool carder bee (Anthidium manicatum) on a house leek (Sempervivum tectorum), but this one I managed with the MP-E65mm lens on the camera. (For all my shots of these guys, check out this album - 50 photos by now: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/albums/72157667862870066)
Since this lens physically can't take photos in focus at a distance greater than 101 mm / 4" it is a bit tricky to get close enough without scaring it away - and also fast enough for it to not leave for the next flower.
Here it worked out though and I was rewarded with lots of nice detail on those spotted eyes and also, on the right side of the shot you can see yellow pollen flying around as she is climbing around on the flower.
