Phone Macro Comparison - TNY_20220605_113600
Phone cameras have (obviously) gotten better and better and I see people claiming that with computational photography, they are on par with "real" cameras now.
This might be true for shooting landscapes and portraits on Auto, but for a lot of other kinds of photography - it is far from the truth.
My phone, a Poco F3 has a dedicated macro lens an it really is quite awesome at macro shots - for a phone. But comparing the results to what I can achieve with my real camera it becomes very apparent that there is a long way to go.
Here is a female goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia) which has performed a successful ambus atop a dandelion and caught a male migrant hoverfly (Eupeodes corollae) at Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park just south of Stockholm, Sweden.
