Room for Everything - TNY_20220615_102441

I've been using a LG 38UC99-W 38" ultrawide monitor for some time now and it has been glorious to have all that screen real estate available.

I did a nice dumpster find a while back though - a 30" LG W3000H-BN - an old 16:10 monitor, but with nice specs like 2560x1600 and a S-IPS panel.

When I hooked it up, I got no image, but Windows still recognized the monitor which was a bit curious. A little searching on the web for known and easily fixable issues led me to an Austrian guy (wp.xin.at/archives/5173) who had figured this out. It turns out that the monitor's inverter board which handles the backlighting is prone to fail which means that even if the screen itself is working - without backlight it remains dark. This fit my case perfectly so using a parts number I was able to locate a working inverter board for sale in Poland (media-power.pl/en_US/index) and ordered it.

So after opening it up and swapping boards- lo and behold - it lit right back up like it should again!

Also, since it had been wall-mounted it was lacking the stand so I had to order a universal one off Amazon, but after that my desktop is rocking. Since both screens have the same vertical resolution, I end up with a width of 3840 + 2560 pixels for a total resolution of 6400x1600!
