Convenient Beginning - _TNY_7799

The first find on a trip to Åva-Stensjödal together with my son was a female goldenrod crab spider (Misumena vatia) in yellow mode.

She had performed a successful ambush from a dandelion (Taraxacum sect. ruderalia) and managed to snag a male migrant hoverfly (Eupeodes corollae).

Conviniently for me, the dandelion was right next to the low wooden railing next to the llittle bridge over the Åva creek which meant I could use the rail for support while shooting.

Now goldenrod crab spider venom seems pretty potent, but I imagine that when striking straight into the eyes like this, death would be especially fast for the poor hoverfly.
