Jewel Runner - _TNY_7885
Right before me and my son were taking a break for lunch near the old miller cottage (from the 1700s) at Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park, I spotted a flash of colour in the waterlogged grass.
The flash turned out to be this guy, but it was extremely set in stone to not have its picture taken and kept running and running and running - and occasionally hide under the grass.
We spent quite some time trying to trick it into stopping where it was visible and finally did so which allowed me this (and a couple more) shot.
This is a small (~8mm / .3" ) ground beetle with the scientific name Agonum sexpunctatum - but no common English name. The Swedish one is "juvellöpare" which quite fittingly translates into "jewel runner" as it truly looks like a little gem - and it sure was a runner!
