Core Strength - _TNY_7932

In spring of 2021, I bought myself a pair of waders to be able to walk out into the water and spot those bugs that always were just a little out of reach from land. I never got around to trying them out that season, but now I have - and it was really nice!

Me and my son were at my favourite spot in Åva-Stensjödal and I walked out into the water for a bit with the camera

Walking was slow as there were a lot of branches and similar on the bottom, but it wasn't much of an issue as I have to move slowly to not scare everything away anyway.

Among the interesting finds was this pair of mating spearhead bluets (Coenagrion hastulatum), also known as the northern damselflies. The male retaines his grip even while the actual mating is technically completetd and the female is placing the eggs in the water. I'm assuming this is to make sure another male doesn't swoop in and mates with her.

He was using his wings while in this position, but it still looks like it would take a bit of core strenght to be able to hold this position.
