Table Buzzer - _TNY_7559
The teak table on my mom's deck outside her summer house is of the expandable variety. You pull two halves apart and underneath there is a middle section which can rotate up.
Well, I rotated it up and found this female buzzing spider (Anyphaena accentuata) underneath.
She decided that staying completely still was the best strategy to stay safe which suited me fine as it provided me with ample time to get some shots. Unfortunately her position was right next to a beam so I couldn't really get the lens down in front of her.
The name buzzing spider comes from the way the males drum with their feet on dry leaves in the spring to attract females. Preciously, I have only found males (like this from a couple of meters away last autumn: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51665111219/) so this was the first time I saw a drum-ee.
