You Can't See Me! - _TNY_7157

Unlike the spectacular tropical butterflies I've been posting lately, there are some who instead rely heavily on their camouflage ability.

 

Like this rock grayling (Hipparchia semele) which was hanging out on a rock under the power lines near my house. It really trusted its camouflage pattern and stayed completely still when I inched closer.

 

Unfortunately the family wanted to keep going instead of waiting for me to take a bajillion photos of a butterfly, so I had to cut the session short.
