Clipper - _TNY_6369

The clipper (Parthenos sylvia) is a really pretty species found in southeast Asia and a bit down into Oceania, but the special thing is that there are several distinct colour forms. I am not knowledgable enough to tell you which subspecies this is, but the brown colur was really nice here.

Unfortunately for this one, the wings didn't dry out entirely flat so the lower right one ended up a little bit curled like this. Since this was taken at the Haga Ocean butterfly house, there is however zero risk of predation and it could fly well enough to get around so I would say it was okay.

For this shot, I used a tripod which allowed me to use as small an aperture as f/9.5 even though I wasn't allowed to use a flash so it came out with a nice bit of depth of field compared to if I would have had to shoot just handheld.
