The Ambushee - _TNY_5086

 

Sneaking around the cow parsley (Anthriscus sylvestris) near the Nedre Dammen pond at Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park, I found several female goldenrod crab spiders (Misumena vatia) hunting. One of them was busy eating a pine parasyrphus hoverfly (Parasyrphus vittiger) she had just caught.

I also managed this shot, showing another (male) hoverfly of the same species, but this one still alive and kicking.
