A Happy Guy, Pt. 3 - _TNY_7640S2

After finishing our dinner on the patio, I noticed several darters landing near us and whipped out my camera.

 

Here is a vagrant darter (Sympetrum vulgatum), also known as the moustached darter, and from the red colour we can say it is a male.

 

That mouth looks friendly and smiling, but if you have witnessed a dragonfly eating you know that it is quite a grisly sight when they open their face up and devour the poor unfortunate victim.

 

This one is a focus-stack of two exposures for a little extra depth of field.
