Bright Spot - _TNY_6157

As the name implies, the giant owl butterfly (Caligo memnon), also known as the pale owl butterfly, is a very large species. The wingspan can reach 20 cm/8" and they have these distinct and large eye spost on the undersides.

I shot this at the Haga Ocean butterfly house, a place which has a no flash policy which makes shooting these guys more challenging as the place really isn't that much lit on top of what sunlight can filter in through the semi-translucent ceiling (and the sunlight isn't especially intense on an overcast March day).

Either way, I found this particular one on a leaf where one of the few lamps shone its light which immediately made it possible to capture a little more detail.
