A Winter Species for Me, Pt. 2 - _TNY_5836
Early November is quite cold in Stockholm, Sweden. Temps are climbing down towards freezing so there aren't many invertebrates out and about, but when I was changing to winter tires, I noticed this one on the side of the house - and I must say, this is becoming more and more of a winter species for me.
This is a female buzzing spider (Anyphaena accentuata), so named because in spring, the males rapidly tap their feet on dry leaves to create a buzzing sound (audible to humans) to attract females.
So,what was that about winter species? Well, both in late December of 2017 and late December of 2018, I have found a male of this species in one of my kitchen cupboards and I've never seen them otherwise.
