An Owl? Pt. 2 - _TNY_5755

Shooting insects and spiders is great fun. Not only the actual shooting and seeing the result, but Im beginning to like a third component of it more and more.

What is the third thing, you ask? Well, it is the detective work of figuring out exactly what it is I have managed to shoot!

These days, the internet makes it, relatively speaking, very easy to gather this information compared to the old days - but that doesn't mean it is always smooth sailing to a correct ID.

This particular one is another one of those moths I find outside the house when I get home from work in the middle of the night and after looking at more shots of moths than I would like to admit, I believe it to be a common grey (Scoparia ambigualis).

Now the English name might be as plain and bland as a moth name could possibly be, but the Swedish one is better: "föränderligt ugglemott" which translates into "variable owl moth" - doesn't that sound more exciting?
