Hairiest Flower - _TNY_4414

I've posted and written quite a lot about the European wool carder bee (Anthidium manicatum) here over the years, but I can't really help myself as they are my favourite invertebrate with loads and loads of cool quirks and features, to paraphrase a certain YouTuber.

The reason this little lady is sitting on a lamb's-ear (Stachys byzantina) here is pretty apparent when you know they use plant hairs to line the egg chambers - can't really think of a hairier plant than this.

For an entire album of shots of this species (40+ shots), have a look here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/albums/72157667862870066
