The Blue Edge - _TNY_7183

The dor beetle (Anoplotrupes stercorosus) is quite possibly the most common beetle around my parts, not counting ladybirds.

Once you look a little closer at them, you'll notice the slick paintjob they've got with nice metallic blue edgework.

This particular one was bumbling along on a footpath a couple of meters off the rock beaches of Havtornsudd point on the peninsula of Gålö southeast of Stockholm.
