Red Hot Lover - _TNY_5408

A mating pair of ruddy darters (Sympetrum sanguineum) - the red male in the foregound and the more yellow female in the background.

Not really sure what the English word "ruddy" means, but the scientific name "sanguineum", meaning blood-coloured is picked up in various other countries' vernacular names, like in Swedish, Norwegian, German and Danish.

This couple were having a moment on a tree stump by the Nedre Dammen pond in Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park just south of Stockholm, Sweden in late August.
