In mid-June of 2021, me and the family were at lake Långsjön in the Paradiset nature reserve enjoying the weather and warm water.

There I noticed a macro photographer whith a huge diffuser trying to take in-flight shots of dragonflies so I went over and chatted a bit. The photographer turned out to be Johan Lind, a really talented nature photographer whom I've been folloing elsewhere. (check out his work at www.jlind.se/).

So, Mr. Lind told me I should go have a look at the small area between lake Långsjön änd lake Svartsjön which damaged by a forest fire the year before as there were jewel beetles there laying eggs in the charred pine bark.

I did exactly that but had no luck with the jewel beetles that day. A couple of days later however, Me and my son headed out to the same spot again and this time we had the good fortune of finding this steelblue jewel beetle (Phaenops cyanea) crawling around on a pine looking for a suitable spot for her eggs.
