Wasp Magnet - _TNY_6762

The purple angelica (Angelica gigas) is a large flower that can reach about 150 cm/5' high.

I consider it an excellent addition to a garden for anyone interested in bugs. Obviously it looks magnificient with those huge purple inflorescence, but also because swallowtail butterfly caterpillars like to eat the leaves and pollinating insects, especially wasps, really love to visit them.

This particular visitor is a worker common wasp (Vespula vulgaris) walking over the purple field of food.
