Cute Slithering - _TNY_5307
My son (aged twelve) found this adorable little baby grass snake (Natrix natrix) curled up on the path (where I almost stepped on it) in Åva-Stensjödal in Tyresta National Park in Stockholm, Sweden.
Despite being absolutely tiny and utterly incapable of inflicting any form of damage (even adult grass snakes are harmless), this one tried its best to do scary lunges towards our fingers before Daniel picked it up when it for some reason calmed down.
Here it decided Daniel's arms were less scary than his hands and began slithering down between them.
A shot of him holding it in his hand can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51421845496/
I also took a short video of Daniel and the snake where the surroundings are better shown, which can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/tinyturtle/51421098497/
